Relatives of Mallorca harassed by Real Madrid fans in Saudi Arabia

It was a bitter end to the Spanish Super Cup semi-final between Real Madrid and RCD Mallorca, and if the Los Bermellones fans were not in the best mood, their frustration continued with the final whistle.

At the exit of the stadium, the relatives of the Mallorcan team, who were not separated from the fans nor provided security for their bus, met a group of local Real Madrid fans. Cristina Palavra, wife of Mallorca veteran Dani Rodríguez, confirmed that she was fine in Esport IB3, but explained that she, Dominik Greif’s wife and others were harassed outside the stadium, despite the presence of their young children.

Palavra explained that they were also taking photos up close. Cadena Cope also spoke with a Mallorca fan, Pere, who explained that between their seats and the bus there was between 15 and 20 minutes of travel, with people angry about the result and shouting at them.

However, Pere confirmed that the women in her cohort had also suffered harassment: “they touched them, they had people taking photos of them without their consent… It’s very serious.”

The celebration of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia has been praised by Carlo Ancelotti, who stated that the teams feel the warmth of the fans in a different country, but teams that are not Barcelona and Real Madrid have shown much less interest on host country. Iñaki Williams complained that there was a partisan atmosphere in favor of Barcelona on Wednesday night, and these latest developments will have done little to enamor Mallorca fans with the experience.
