Former Real Madrid star Predrag Mijatovic has told Carlo Ancelotti what he must do to revive his team.
Los Blancos face a decisive finish until 2024, as they look to chase Barcelona in the La Liga title race and get their UEFA Champions League campaign back on track.
Domestic issues are less of a concern, as Ancelotti’s team can reduce the title gap to one point if they win their remaining game, but Europe is a concern.
After winning just two of their five league matches so far this season, Real Madrid currently sit in 24th place in the standings, four points off the automatic knockout qualifying spots.
Ancelotti is confident his team can bounce back from three Champions League defeats, but Mijatovic believes their approach needs to change.
“The main problem of this season is precisely the greatest asset of last year, the mental strength that the team had. They have a lot of football quality, but they are fragile mentally every time they concede a goal,” Marca quotes.
“The squad is less hungry because last season they won everything. This has made them feel comfortable, and comfort in football is a major problem, it kills you.
“I feel that Ancelotti wants to please everyone, but young players should have an opportunity when he decides, not when they demand it.
“We know that Ancelotti is a pacifist, but we need an Ancelotti who is angry and tells someone to go to hell.”
Ancelotti’s side face a busy end to December, with three league games, a Champions League clash and a trip to Qatar for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final.
