Real Madrid have seen an uptick in their performance of late, with more minutes going to their second row, with players like Dani Ceballos, Arda Guler and Brahim Díaz making important contributions. However, Endrick Felipe has not been able to make the first team.
The Palmeiras product joined this summer for €40 million plus €20 million in add-ons, of which approximately half has already been paid. Despite a positive start in the Spanish capital in his first cameos, Endrick has failed to get a single minute in 7 of Real Madrid’s last 12 games.
However, Ancelotti had little time for criticism. As Los Blancos come out on the other side of an injury crisis, he was asked who they say he should rotate more frequently.
“It’s true, it’s true. I can rotate certain players, but when I have a roster of 14-15… I have little to rotate. And it is not always positive to include certain players, if they are young.”
“There is a lot of talk about Endrick, minutes… blah blah blah, there is a lot of talk, but I also have to think about when to bring the players in, if it will help them, and blah blah, blah blah. It’s not easy. If I have few players, the normal thing is that they rotate less.”
The Italian coach said that he does not mind being criticized for not giving opportunities to young players.
“No no. Because it’s not reality. That’s why it doesn’t bother me.”
Earlier this week Ancelotti was asked if the teenage striker could leave on loan in January to get more playing time, something Ancelotti dismissed. They asked him what exactly Endrick has to work on to get those minutes at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“But not only he has to work, but everyone. He is very young and has one of the best forwards in the world in front of him. You have to be patient. He would like to play more, of course, but he doesn’t ask for anything. May your learning continue like this. That’s all.”
is he #Real Madrid hotseat the one that ‘burns’ the most?
“Everyone’s bench is on fire, everyone has their problems. It’s normal. The Real Madrid bench is on fire, of course, but like the rest.”
