Manchester City scope agreement with Porto for Nico González

Manchester City will make a splash of the day of the transfer deadline, with a movement for Porto Nico González midfielder. The 23 -year -old Spanish midfielder had expressed his desire to the Portuguese side to make the movement occur before the end of the transfer window.

The former Masia product will fly to England imminently after an agreement was reached between the two clubs. City will pay the value of its release clause of 60 million euros, for example, relieve, but has negotiated a more flexible payment schedule, instead of paying the full rate in advance, as is the case with the AA clause.

Pep Guardiola seems to have identified it as a player who can alleviate Rodri Hernández’s loss in the middle of the field, and Nico has the ability to play in front of the defense, or as a midfielder from cash to cash. That is evidenced by its 13 goals contributions this season in just 29 appearances.

The measure will also be held in the Catalan capital, since Barcelona maintained a 40% sales rate when González to Porto sold for € 8.44m in the summer of 2023. That should bring 24 million euros for the blaugrana in total, more Beyond what they have already received. Including what Porto has paid, it would make Nico its greatest sale in the last 4.5 years, exceeded only for the 50 million euros they received from Paris Saint-Germain by Ousmane Dembele two summers ago.

It seems unlikely that Barcelona seeks to use that money before the end of the transfer deadline, despite the fact that several areas of the equipment look a bit short. The sports director Deco had identified the first line as the area to strengthen if they were going to do it, but now with loan options such as Marcus Rashford and Mathys Tel having already agreed the movements in another place, it is not clear to whom they would resort to.
