Dani Olmo’s suitor reduces interest in his commitment to Barcelona

Barcelona are facing an unprecedented situation having failed to register Dani Olmo before La Liga’s January deadline, with their star signing able to terminate his contract just five months after his arrival. Naturally, the Catalan midfielder is attracting a lot of attention from Europe’s elite.

One of the teams chasing him in the summer was German giants Bayern Munich, who were interested in a deal before Olmo opted to move to Barcelona. However, BILD (via Sport) reports that the Bavarian team will not pursue Olmo, even though they could potentially sign him for free. However, due to the fact that Olmo would intend to return to Barcelona in the summer if he wants to leave the club in January, and the fact that they are unable to sign him on a long-term contract has led them to abandon their interest.

It has been widely reported that Olmo can collect the full amount of his six-year contract, which amounts to €48 million, if he decides to exercise an exit clause that comes into play if he is not registered. AC Milan have reportedly offered to give him a home for six months and, given Olmo intends to remain at the club, that may be a more likely destination.
