Sunday’s La Liga schedule was heavily affected by the Spanish Super Cup with only two games on the schedule.
However, with their title rivals in Saudi Arabia, Atlético Madrid took full advantage to claim a 1-0 home win over Osasuna.
That returns Los Rojiblancos to the top of the table as Getafe claimed a late victory at Las Palmas.
This is how Sunday’s games unfolded…
Las Palmas 1-2 Getafe
Getafe moved away from the relegation zone thanks to their first league victory of the campaign away from home in Gran Canaria.
Neither team created much in a quiet first half. Fabio Silva was disallowed from the penalty spot and Cobá Gómez da Costa Getafe headed to the front.
Da Costa then became provider in the closing stages, to tee off to Borja Mayoral, before Adnan Januzaj provided a superb late consolation for the hosts.
