‘You are a burden on the team, happy retirement’: Fans brutally roast Rohit Sharma after fight at MCG Test

In a disappointing turn of events for the Indian team captain Rohit SharmaTheir struggles continued during the fourth test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). After a lackluster performance, in which he managed to score just 3 and 9 runs in both innings, fans took to social media to express their frustration, with many brutally suggesting that it might be time for him to retire.

Another tough day for Rohit Sharma

Rohit’s dismissal came early on day 5, in the 16th over of India’s second innings. Against the first ball of the over, bowled by Pat CumminsRohit tried to bowl a delivery that was heading towards the stump and then straightened up slightly. Unfortunately, it only managed to produce one lead.

The ball flew into the ravine, where michel marsh made an impressive catch. Marsh initially tried to reverse the ball over his head, but it slipped out of his hands. Showing exceptional reflexes and awareness, Marsh quickly adjusted to grab the ball close to his left shoulder, completing a brilliant effort.

The firing marked another success for Cummins, who once again outperformed his counterpart. Rohit, who looked composed during his 40-ball stay and had seemingly settled into his innings, was dismissed for just 9 runs. This breakthrough was exactly what Australia needed at that stage of the game as it undid Rohit’s previous hard work. The Indian captain’s latest performance adds to his dismal tally of just 31 runs in five innings during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, at an average of just 6.2.

This is how fans on X (formerly Twitter) reacted:

Earlier in the day, Australia finished their second innings on 234 with Natalia Lyon (40 of 55) being the last man to be fired. India need to reach a record 340 to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series and keep their World Test Championship (WTC) finals hopes alive.
