Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah is expected to leave the Bundesliga team when his contract expires at the end of the 2024/25 season.
The German international is in his tenth season at the BayArena and played a crucial role in their first Bundesliga title, in 2023/24.
However, with talks about a possible extension not moving forward, exit options have emerged across Europe.
The latest update indicates that Barcelona are the favorites to complete a free transfer for the 28-year-old and negotiations could begin in January.
Barcelona will not be without opposition in their interest in Tah, but a move for the experienced defender fits their transfer profile, being cost-effective and versatile.
Despite the growing feeling that Tah has already made a decision, Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso attempted to calm speculation and confirmed that no decision has been made at this time.
“We are happy to have Tah with us this season. I am not worried about the situation at the moment,” Marca quotes.
“We are happy that Jona is with us. His attitude is top notch, he is a big influence on our game. We will need it until the last day. Then we will see what happens in the future. “
Tah still has a €30m release on his contract which Bayern Munich refused to pay in the summer.
