Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is no stranger to the ups and downs of football, having had a long career at the top of the game, and one of his familiar rivals is certainly going through the toughest time of his career. : Pep Guardiola. However, the Italian coach had little advice to help him.
Last week, Ancelotti told reporters that they had been too harsh on him and that some of the criticism had been personal. They asked him if the Real Madrid bench was the one that ‘burns the most’.
“All the banks are burning, they all have their problems. It’s normal. The Real Madrid bench is burning, of course, but like the rest,” Ancelotti told the press.

He was also asked about Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and his opinion on their recent poor run of form, following another defeat against Juventus.
“I’m not going to give you any advice, no. My opinion does not change regarding him, due to the latest results. He has been an innovator. We can control many things, but not the results of the games. And for him, without a doubt, the results have been very good in recent years.”
He was again asked if the press had been too scathing towards him.
“We are going to compete and fight for everything, that’s what I know. Things are starting to improve, you see. Alaba and Camavinga are almost back and we are going to compete for everything despite the difficulties due to injuries.”
“We will analyze what we can do better. But as you’re seeing, things are starting to get better. “We are excited about the return of Camavinga and Alaba, but we will compete for everything.”
With Los Blancos likely to be in the Champions League play-off round and Manchester City on the fringes of qualification, it is not unthinkable that Guardiola and Ancelotti will meet again in February. Real Madrid returns to action on Saturday night in the urban derby against Rayo Vallecano at 9:00 p.m. Camavinga will be ready for that clash, but Kylian Mbappé will miss out with a hamstring problem.
