Rayo Vallecano President Raul Martin Presa has confirmed that the club is aware of Raul de Tomas’ current situation after the striker, who has previously played for Benfica, Espanyol, and Real Madrid, appeared to go missing this week.
De Tomas, 30, has not attended training for several days, and reports from Relevo state that WhatsApp messages sent by teammates were not reaching his phone, nor was he answering calls. He has been excluded from Rayo’s Copa del Rey squad for their match against Unionistas de Salamanca this evening. Manager Inigo Perez confirmed on Tuesday that the player is unavailable and is being looked after by the club’s medical team.
In an appearance on El Chiringuito, Presa clarified that De Tomas is not “missing,” as some have suggested, but is being monitored by the club’s medical services. “It’s not a physical injury, but it’s a common issue. I won’t disclose the specifics, but the doctor is aware,” he stated.
Since his return to Rayo from Espanyol, De Tomas has struggled to make an impact and has barely featured this season. He has yet to make his La Liga debut but scored a brace and played 90 minutes in the previous Copa del Rey match against Villamuriel.
