Barcelona star Pedri had a clear message for his teammates following the 1-0 La Liga loss to Leganés.
The Catalan giants have lost consecutive league games at home and finish the weekend top of the table only on goal difference ahead of Atletico Madrid.
With the gap now reduced to zero points, Barcelona’s clash against Los Rojiblancos on December 21 becomes vital, as the league leader could change heading into 2025.
Barcelona’s slide on domestic issues is a growing concern with just one league win in their last six domestic games.
By contrast, their Champions League form is excellent, with five straight wins in Europe, and Pedri wants the team to channel that into league matters in the second half of the campaign.
“We have to start the games better. When a team like that scores a goal against you away from home, it puts many players back on defense, but we still had opportunities,” Marca quotes.
“We have to be more clinical in front of goal if we want to win games. We have to improve in La Liga, we have had a bad streak.
“We have played many games in a row, but that is no excuse. “We have to finish the games with the same confidence that we have in the Champions League.”
If Barcelona beat Atlético Madrid at home, they will maintain first place in early 2025, but anything else could allow Real Madrid to overtake them, if they beat Sevilla.
