Jude Bellingham had a message for Real Madrid fans after the 2-1 victory in Valencia.
Los Blancos secured a winning start to 2025 in wild style at the Mestalla Stadium when Bellingham scored the decisive goal in the 95th minute.
On an action-packed night in Valencia, with Vinicius Junior sent off in the final minutes after Bellingham hit the post from the penalty spot.
Left with ten men, with Bellingham’s frustration from the penalty spot, it seemed that Real Madrid returned to the capital with zero points.
However, a late comeback turned the match on its head, as Bellingham set up Luka Modric for a record equaliser, before the England star won in added time.
Bellingham was a surprising choice to take the penalty, part of a long-running saga over who takes the penalty spot kicks at the club this season, and admitted the miss motivated his dramatic goal.
“It was a crazy game. I owed that goal to the team and the fans. It is very difficult when the team tries so hard and you miss a penalty,” Diario AS reports.
“I felt like I had let the team down, I was very angry with myself. I had to concentrate, these things happen. Missed penalties, red cards, they can happen.”
