“He knows what he should do”: Hansi Flick, Barcelona coach, talks about Frenkie de Jong’s situation

Barcelona could lose top spot in La Liga when they face Leganes on Sunday, which would be a consequence of their recent poor form. However, their goal will be to close 2024 on the right foot, starting with the match at the Estadi Olimpic.

Atlético de Madrid will be Barcelona’s final of the year, which will be next weekend. However, Hansi Flick has all his attention on Leganés, as he told the media in his press conference (via MD).

“Leganés is tomorrow and we are not thinking about Atlético. The question is deciding on the same team, but there are also players who can rest. We have quality. “It’s good to do some rotation, but we haven’t decided yet.”

One player who could join the starting lineup is Frenkie de Jong, and Flick addressed recent criticism of the Barcelona midfielder.

“I tell the players that I don’t think about individuals. In Dortmund he came in and we won important points… You saw how they celebrated. It’s not about protecting him. He knows what he must do. You have to support the players so that they give the highest level.

“The important thing in the case of injuries is that they can recover perfectly. I hope he gets back into the swing of things. Not only him, it’s Gavi, it’s Araujo… We take care of the players. We protect them. I hope we can help them give even more.”
