Barcelona will take on Borussia Dortmund at the Sinal Iduna Park on Wednesday night (21:00 CEST), knowing that a win will take them to within a couple of points of qualifying for the top eight of the Champions League. Coach Hansi Flick is willing to give his best, as the Blaugrana look for a reaction after dropping more points in La Liga.
According to Sport, it will be Flick’s strongest lineup, with exactly the same team that started against Real Betis on the field. Robert Lewandowski, Dani Olmo, Pedri and Raphinha were taken off early in that match to give them a better rest against Dortmund.
MD agrees with that assessment, and with Marc-André ter Stegen, Andreas Christensen, Marc Bernal and Ansu Fati injured, they do not have a range of alternatives. Frenkie de Jong, Gavi and Ferran Torres have yet to convince Flick of their value in the starting eleven after recovering from their injuries. The good news is that Ronald Araujo is back in the squad and match fit, and could return to action.

Nuri Sahin does not have central defenders Waldemar Anton and Niklas Sule available, meaning he will likely improvise with Emre Can in defense alongside Nico Schlotterbeck. Both newspapers also agree on Dortmund’s lineup, which is missing Julian Brandt and Filipo Mane, and the former’s absence robs Dortmund of one of its main creative outlets. With Jamie Gittens, Donyell Malen and Serhou Guirassy, the pace of Dortmund’s front line against Barcelona’s offside trap will be one of the key battles.
Flick: “We have a very good squad, with young players, others who are recovering from injuries… It is normal that we are not always at 100%. We have to have confidence in ourselves.”
