Eden Gardens will host the opening and final of the tournament
Notably, the BCCI has officially announced that the upcoming IPL season will begin on March 23 and the final is scheduled for May 25. Rajeev ShuklaBCCI vice-president, made the announcement during a press conference after an Extraordinary General Assembly held in Mumbai.
Eden Gardens, the iconic home of Calcutta Knights Riders (KKR)has been selected to host both the opening match and the final of the tournament. This aligns with the tradition of the defending champions’ venue hosting key matches. KKR clinched the IPL 2024 title, earning their home team the honor for the upcoming season.

Mega Auction and Schedule Updates
Ahead of the mega auction in November, the IPL Governing Council had taken an innovative step by sharing the tournament windows for the next three seasons (2025-2027) with all franchises. The 2025 season has been assigned a window from March 15 to May 25.
To adapt to the international calendar, in particular the ICC Champions Trophy finale scheduled for March 9, the IPL has ensured a two-week window before the league begins. The final start date of March 23 allows teams and players to have adequate preparation time after the global tournament.
