Barcelona suspicious of Juventus bid for Ronaldo Araujo as transfer saga unfolds

Juventus’ interest in Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo arose this week, with the Bianconeri keen to make a loan deal with the obligation to buy the Uruguayan in the summer. The most recent reports also say that Araujo has given the green light to act.

According to GdS, Araujo would have accepted an offer from Juventus in case they could reach an agreement for the center-back with Barcelona. However, Marca says that the Blaugrana have doubts about their offer. They are in contract negotiations with Araujo and have no indication from the player that he wants to leave, nor do they have information about ongoing talks between Juventus and Araujo. Still, the Catalan giants distrust the whole story.

It would certainly be surprising if Barcelona agreed to let Araujo go in January, especially since a loan deal would not allow them to immediately strengthen an already depleted squad. On the other hand, it would guarantee them Araujo’s income, and if they do not get a contract renewal with him in the next six months, his value will drop.
