Barcelona have seen their second court request to keep Pau Víctor and Dani Olmo registered with the RFEF rejected, after their first attempt was denied on Friday. The Blaugrana have just 24 hours to prevent Olmo from leaving on a free transfer.
The Blaugrana were pessimistic about their chances of getting the decision overturned in court, but argued that the La Liga Committee was not the competent body that should enforce salary controls, which was denied before the Barcelona courts on Monday. La Liga subsequently issued a statement, noting that the same committee has been in charge of the matter for the past 12 years and that Barcelona, like all other La Liga clubs, had accepted those rules.
Barcelona only have two options left to register Olmo and Víctor, says Relevo, and both involve increasing their salary cap. The Blaugrana have reached an agreement to sell some of the commercial rights to their VIP boxes at the newly renovated Camp Nou for the next 20 years in exchange for 100 million euros. The Blaugrana have already sent the details of the contract to LaLiga, but the governing body wants to ratify that the deal is closed before registering Olmo and Víctor.

The other option, which has been described as “practically ruled out”, is for Barcelona’s directors to sign a bank guarantee, which allows the club’s directors to become personally responsible for an amount of income that will arrive that same season. If not, they will be forced to pay the amount, which in this case would be 60 million euros.
The whole matter is of utmost importance for Barcelona, as Olmo has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for free if he is not registered for the second half of the season. Not only would they lose the player, but also the 55 million euros invested in him in transfer expenses alone. Barcelona has preached calm, but that certainly leaves the Blaugrana in a precarious situation.
