Barcelona was not active during the last day of the winter transfer window, but they still managed to ensure very necessary funds. These were courtesy of Manchester City, who signed Nico González del FC Porto in an agreement worth 60 million euros.
Nico, who fought to have a significant impact on Barcelona before being sold to Porto in the summer of 2023, was brought by Pep Guardiola to act as the “replacement” for compatriot Rodri Hernández, who is currently recovering from an injury to an injury ACL initially thought he was out for the rest of the season, but could return before expected.
Barcelona received € 8.5 million from Nico’s initial sale, while retaining a 40%sales clause. As such, the expectation was that they would bring € 24 million of the agreement between Porto and Man City, but in reality, that is not the case.
The sport has come into details about work work in Monday’s treatment. Before Man City completed the signature of the 23 -year -old midfielder, Porto activated a clause that saw them acquire a 20% addition of the player’s rights, for this reason, they paid only 3 million euros.
As a result, Barcelona only retained a 20%sales clause, and not only that was for the capital gain of a future sale, instead of Nico’s rights. In the end, the Catalan giants received € 10.3m of the sale itself, which means a total income of € 13.3 million, far from the 24 million euros that many expected the club to receive.
Added to the initial transfer rate of € 8.5M, Barcelona brought € 21.8 million of Nico’s departure, which is a very hand -handed amount given the well -documented financial problems of the club. However, it is obliged to a feeling of what could have been, since the Spaniard ended up going for 60 million euros.
However, this money will be useful for Barcelona in the summer, which should be busy since it is its first season of the end of the season since it returned to rule 1: 1 of the League.
