Barcelona follow Premier League left-back available on a free transfer: Tottenham and Arsenal are also interested

Barcelona and Real Madrid have made good use of the free agent market in recent years and, with the Blaugrana still struggling financially, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they turned to him again next summer.

Sporting director Deco has identified the full-back positions as one of the priorities for next summer, and Sport say one of the players he is keeping an eye on is Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell. The 25-year-old will be out of contract next summer and has not yet signed a new contract.

However, if the priority is money, that could be a problem for Barcelona. Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are also keeping an eye on their London neighbour: Mitchell can sign a pre-contract in a week, when he enters the last six months of his contract.

Barcelona have also been linked with AS Monaco’s Caio Henrique, Feyenoord’s Hugo Bueno and Benfica’s Álvaro Carreras in recent months. It remains to be seen what kind of budget they will have to work with, and it seems relatively unlikely that they will take action imminently.
