They find a ton of illegal seafood from the former Real Madrid player

It has been an intense week in the headlines for Real Madrid’s former left backs, after Roberto Carlos came out to deny that he had been sleeping at their Valdebebas training ground. Now former player Fabio Coentrao has been in the news.

According to Jornal do Noticias (via Relevo), Fabio Coentrao was detained by maritime trade officials in Porto, after he was discovered with more than a ton of illegal seafood. Seven months ago Coentrao created a fishing business, but has not yet obtained the relevant licenses to sell the seafood.

Coentrao had 1,020 tons of prawns in seawater in a port warehouse, of which 760 kg did not have adequate documentation. José Mourinho’s former signing has been forced to return the 760 kilos to the sea, while inspectors examine the remaining 260 kilos, which will be destroyed or donated to a charity.

The former Portugal international retired in 2021 at the age of 33, after a spell at Rio Ave in Portugal. Coentrao spent seven years in total at Real Madrid, although much of the second half was on loan. During his time he won two League titles and two Champions Leagues.
