Barcelona’s institutional vice president, Elena Fort, was the first person from the club to speak publicly in 2025, beyond Hansi Flick’s pre- and post-match press conferences. Not only did he address the drama of Dani Olmo’s registration, but he also promised a soon return to the Camp Nou.
Initially, the club had set a date for the end of November for the club’s return to a renovated Camp Nou with a capacity for around 60,000 people. However, the dates have been pushed back three times and there is still no certainty about when they will return home. However, he promised RAC1 that they would return this season, and not in September as some reports have suggested.
“There is still no date for the return to the Camp Nou. But it will be this season. The club has been very transparent with the evolution of the works, when what was said was said because it was what was thought at that time. The first forecasts, which were very tight, have changed. We have had construction problems, defects that have been detected… each small imponderable has caused the established date to be delayed further. We must appreciate the fact that the stadium is being built. “It is a dream and it will soon come true.”

It was previously reported that Barcelona would be fined €1 million per day by the Limak construction group for each day after the agreed return date. However, this has been questioned and Fort backed away from the idea of claiming that money, despite his stretched finances.
“All contracts have obligations and guarantees. There is a sanction and at the end of the works is when the sanctions of the situations will be analyzed, which have not always had to do with the construction company.”

Barcelona faces a problem with its stay in Montjuic. Not only are vital match day revenues being lost, but the club is considering playing Champions League qualifiers in Madrid or Valencia if they reach the latter stages. The Blaugrana only have the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys rented until the end of April, and some of the dates on which the Champions League is scheduled already have concerts organized there by Barcelona City Council.
