Real Madrid was awaiting the verdict on Vinicius Júnior’s red card in last weekend’s victory against Valencia, which has now been handed down by the Disciplinary Commission of the Spanish Football Federation.
Vinicius was expected to be suspended for two games and this has been confirmed by the Federation, according to Diario AS. However, it is not a sanction that has been applied in all competitions, but only in La Liga.
This means that Vinicius will be available for Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, starting with Thursday’s semi-final against Mallorca. If Carlo Ancelotti’s side reach the final, in which the 24-year-old scored a hat-trick last season, they will also be able to face Athletic Club or Barcelona.
On the other hand, Vinicius will not be in Real Madrid’s next two league games, which will be against Las Palmas (home) and Real Valladolid (away). While this is a blow, there is no doubt that Los Blancos would have preferred it this way, as they should be able to win those games comfortably without their talisman.
