The RFEF will not grant Barcelona licenses to Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor

La Liga made it perfectly clear that Barcelona has not done enough to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor in its statement before the December deadline. Barcelona issued their own statement earlier, explaining that they had applied for licenses from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), but that won’t do them much good according to the latest reports.

According to Diario AS, the RFEF has no intention of granting Barcelona these licenses without the green light from La Liga. They are keen to maintain the recently improved relations with La Liga, as evidenced by the fact that president Rafael Louzan appointed La Liga president Javier Tebas to his board of directors. His information is that Barcelona is trying to buy time by putting the matter in the hands of the RFEF, but is not willing to get involved. Likewise, MD corroborates this report by stating that the RFEF only ratifies the players’ licenses, rather than making the decision.

Barcelona seem to be running out of outlets to turn down, and may have to face the music when it comes to Olmo and Victor’s playing status. The Blaugrana have leaked to the local press that they remain convinced of being able to register both players, and hope to be able to give more details on January 3.
