The newly elected president of the RFEF, Rafael Louzan, has certainly made a concerted effort to help since he was elected to the position. His last offensive will be to improve relations with three heavyweights of Spanish football.
Louzan began his presidency by visiting the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, and declaring himself not only a fan of the team, but also stating that he is the best ambassador in the world. Los Blancos have been embroiled in a public war with the Royal Spanish Football Federation in recent years, due to disagreements over refereeing.
The same has happened with La Liga, although for different reasons. Cadena SER claims that Louzán hopes to name Tebas as one of his vice presidents on his board. AFE (Spanish Players Union) president David Aganzo and League F president Beatriz Álvarez will also receive the same treatment as Louzán seeks to unite the main power bases of Spanish football. Sergio Merchán, president of the Extremadura Football Federation, would be its first vice president.
The news comes as something of a surprise, but it certainly makes sense of recent comments. According to the report, the three are already aware of these plans and Tebas has spoken very positively of Louzan’s appointment. He continues to await the outcome of a judicial process that could result in a seven-year suspension from assuming office. On the other hand, the Ministry of Sports and Culture opposes Louzan’s appointment and will try to hinder it; Tebas also criticized the Ministry.
