Barcelona had a good night against Barbastro, whom they defeated 4-0 in the Copa del Rey. It was an especially special occasion for Toni Fernández, who made his debut with the first team.
Fernández was introduced in the 81st minute by Hansi Flick and, making his debut at 16 years and 173 days, became the second-youngest player to play in Barcelona’s first team. Lamine Yamal is the only younger player to play for the Blaugrana team, when he did so at the age of 15 against Real Betis in April 2023.

Toni, like his younger cousin Guille Fernández, is highly valued within Barcelona, so it is not surprising that he made his first team debut at such a young age. He will now look to ensure he remains in Flick’s team for the remainder of the season, with a view to earning a permanent place in the not-too-distant future.
