There has been no shortage of people willing to tell Rodri Hernández that he, in reality, did not deserve the Ballon d’Or, and that Vinicius Junior did, especially in Madrid. Last week, Cristiano Ronaldo joined that list, but Rodri has explained the hole in his arguments.
The Portuguese was present at the Globe Soccer Awards last week and said he would have awarded it to Vinicius, while Real Madrid did not attend the ceremony either, after learning that the Manchester City midfielder had a chance of winning. In an interview with Diario AS, Rodri said Ronaldo’s view was hypocritical, as was Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez’s suggestion that journalists from some countries should not be allowed to vote.
“Good, [it’s] A surprise, really, because he knows better than anyone how this award works and, above all, how the winner is chosen. This year the journalists who vote have considered that I should win. These same journalists were probably the ones who at some point voted for him to win, and I imagine they would later agree. [with the voting system].”
Do you see yourself playing again this season?
“Yes, yes, yes. Besides, I know myself, I am a person who recovers well, a person with a positive mentality. They have said that the coconut issue was very important in the recovery.”

Rodri added that he hopes to recover from his cruciate ligament injury before the season ends. Although he did not want to set a date, he did indicate that he really wanted to return before the Club World Cup in the United States next year. Spain could also be involved in the Nations League final four if it wins the quarterfinals against the Netherlands in March.
