Atletico Madrid are on a seven-match winning streak and will look to extend it to eight as they face Cacereno in the second round of the 2024-25 Copa del Rey on Thursday.

Ahead of the match, head coach Diego Simeone has announced his squad for the trip to Extremadura. The key news is that Robin Le Normand, who has been sidelined since suffering a traumatic brain injury during September’s Madrid derby, is back in contention. Several other key players are included, but talisman Antoine Griezmann is notably absent.

Griezmann has been training separately from his teammates in recent days, with the decision made to rest him ahead of Sunday’s match against Sevilla. Simeone has plenty of attacking options available for the Cacereno match, so there are no concerns about his absence.
