In his last press conference it was noted that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has become much more serious lately. Naturally, the results influence this, but the Italian coach is increasingly frustrated by the attitude of his players.
One of the problems began before their first Copa del Rey appearance against fourth division side Deportiva Minera. The substitute center back Jesús Vallejo was supposed to start that match, but the day before he informed the Italian that he did not feel fit to play in the match, despite the fact that the medical staff could not confirm any injury.
Real Madrid then leaked that Vallejo was looking for a way out, but that has been denied by the player’s entourage. The truth is that Ancelotti was enraged by the incident, which meant one less rest for his busy squad. He had also planned to leave several stars in Madrid for the match, but Relevo explains that that plan was also scrapped.

Stars such as Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Junior confirmed that they would like to miss the match when asked, an attitude that frustrated Ancelotti and led him to take them with him. Mbappé and Vinicius were present, while Fede Valverde was in the opposite situation: the Uruguayan said he really wanted to play and was substituted at half-time.
Furthermore, Cadena SER has explained that Ancelotti has grown tired of his players disobeying his orders on the pitch. Ancelotti has emphasized on numerous occasions the importance of defensive commitment, but when it comes down to it, he only shows it in games here and there. This is confirmed by Ancelotti’s own words on Wednesday, noting that his players lacked “collective commitment.” Likewise, a report surfaced earlier in the week saying the All-Star team had “sold” their coach. That said, Ancelotti’s main job, after winning games, is to be able to motivate his players, and if he can no longer do that, his tenure will be threatened.
