The ongoing saga regarding Dani Olmo continues to dominate Barcelona in 2025.
After weeks of legal wrangling, the case has taken a turn, with Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Olmo and teammate Pau Víctor were ineligible for the semi-final against Athletic Club as the battle with La Liga and the RFEF continued.
However, the club have since been granted temporary respite over the matter and both will be available for the remainder of the campaign.
That will not be the end of the matter, as La Liga will appeal the decision of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) and numerous clubs will be frustrated by the exemption.
As part of the debate over Olmo, it was also expected that he would be ineligible for service in Spain if a solution was not reached.
That is rumored to have upset Barcelona’s La Roja stars with reports of a team boycott of international duty if Olmo was left out.
However, those reports have been dismissed by midfield star Pedri, who claimed the story is baseless.
“I’m not going to say that I wouldn’t go with the national team for Dani Olmo. It is a lie that I hope no one has believed,” according to Marca.
