Villarreal is having a busy end in the winter transfer window. After signing Tajón Buchanan of Inter Milan, they also hope to add a defender before the deadline on Monday. However, complications have emerged in the last 24 hours.
The arrival of Buchanan was officially confirmed on Saturday, hours before Marcelino García Toral’s team defeated Real Valladolid 5-1. While that is good news for Villarreal, they face difficulties in their efforts to bring Rafa Marin, who is the center-peak selected by the Club Sports Department.
Napoli, who signed Marin from Real Madrid last summer in an agreement worth 12 million euros, agreed to let the young defender lend himself for the rest of the season, without a purchase clause. However, they would only give the final green light once a replacement has been signed, and so far, that has not yet happened.
Because of this, an agreement is being delayed, according to brand. Villarreal is restless about the lack of movement, especially because Marin would be the final piece of Marcelino’s team for the rest of the season, since the yellow submarine observes an impulse for the places of the Champions League.
It is reported that if an agreement for Marin ends up falling because Napoli cannot sign a replacement, Villarreal would not look for an alternative. They already have Logan Costa, Willy Kambwala, Raul Albiol and Eric Bailly as central options, while Juan Foyth also seems to stay, since his projected movement to Aston Villa does not seem to happen before the deadline on Monday.
It remains to be seen how this issue develops in the next 48 hours. Villarreal is anxious to do it as soon as possible, although they depend on Napoli from moving in his own search for a new central defender.
