Barcelona have started 2025 with an ongoing saga over the signing of Dani Olmo for the second half of the 2024/25 season.
The Spain international is currently ineligible for action as his La Liga registration expires at the end of 2024.
Despite a series of last-minute efforts to close financial deals to facilitate this, Olmo remains on the sidelines, ahead of a busy January.
With progress still slow, the 26-year-old still believes Barcelona will secure his registration for the second half of the season, according to Diario AS.
There is the option to terminate your contract (with full salary) if you are not registered, but Olmo or his entourage are not considering it at this time.
That point has been supported by the latest statements from his agent Andy Barça, who indicated that money will not be a decisive factor in a possible transfer-free exit.
“I believe in President Laporta, in Deco and I feel that they will find a solution for Dani. It is a huge club,” says Fabrizio Romano.
“We respect President Laporta and Deco. They made a big effort to bring Dani in last summer.
“Large amount of money in the case of free transfer? Of course, the best deals are obtained when players are free. But emotions matter too.
“We have never made any professional decisions for money. Dani plays for the love of the game.
“He also made a huge effort to be at Barça. “I am happy to have Dani at Barça, one of the best players in the world, in one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
