Alaves 1-1 Celta Vigo
Alaves and Celta Vigo entered their clash from Monday night knowing that defeat would sink them uncomfortably close to the battle of descent, but by the same virtue, a point did not do any favor either.
The game began with a strong and bustling beggar, incorporated by the opening goal within 10 minutes. An early corner of Alaves hit an arm of Celta Vigo, and a penalty was granted. After his hat-trick last week, Kike García took a step forward to shoot the corner to his left, with Vicente Guaita going along the wrong road.
For much of the rest of the middle, Alaves remained in control, slowing down the game and reducing the space in which Celta had to operate. Without being delighted with the performance on display, Chacho Coudet would have been happy with the situation.
On the other hand, Claudio Giraldez intended to change the game, sending Williot Swedberg and Javier Rodríguez for Franco Cervi and Yoel Lago, the latter making only his second appearance for Celta in the League. He almost paid immediate dividends, since a more aggressive Celtic forced Jesús Owono to an excellent Swedberg salvation.
However, with 66 minutes on the clock, Celta made levels. Working the ball on the left, Pablo Duran managed to fall between the center of the countryside and the defense in the hole, and received the ball in space. His touch from the inner pass entered the air, but Duran hit a sweet volley in the corner, although Owono will be disappointed if he could not reject him having had a good hand in the ball.
However, with the Galician side now exercising more caution, the game lost what it had in terms of intention of attack, since both parties fought for the winner with the handbrake. The three shots in the goal in the game had already occurred, and more than anything, the final stages were defined by frustration for both teams.
Coudet’s side now sits above Espanyol in the descent zone, with leganes, Espanyol and Las Palmas around them all also draw. Celta has four points in the Catalans, and will not be sure to look up or down, with only five points separating them from the sixth place, the Giraldez side just in the middle in 13º.
