Brighton loanee sees home robbed in Spain – partner hints at culprit

Brighton and Hove Albion loanee Valentin Barco returned home on Tuesday night to discover that his house had been ransacked and robbed. His partner, Yaz Jaureguy, shared footage of the distressing event on social media.

Currently on loan at Sevilla, Barco had made a promising start to his spell in Spain, but recently he has fallen out of the team, with speculation surrounding his potential departure in the winter transfer window. The robbery, an incident that threatens his safety and disrupts his sense of privacy, will only add to the challenges he faces in adjusting to life in La Liga.

“Arriving home to find it ransacked like this. Coming to a country full of excitement and not being able to relax… Everything feels so strange, you can’t even trust your own shadow,” Jaureguy wrote on social media, as reported by Marca.

She also described the details of the break-in: “Two men entered through the house next door. They spent 50 minutes inside and left 10 minutes before we arrived. The odd thing is that only one employee knew our whereabouts during that time, and that was the only point of entry. He left 7 minutes before we got home.”

It’s still unclear what was taken or the value of the stolen items, but it’s certainly a traumatic experience, coming just a week after Barco proposed to Jaureguy at Plaza España in Seville.

This season, Barco has played 325 minutes across eight games but has been absent from five of Sevilla’s last seven matches. Despite some promising appearances, it appears that Adria Pedrosa has become the first-choice left-back under coach Garcia Pimienta.
