Despite his stellar performance in domestic cricket, Karun Nairwho scored 752 runs in just seven innings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, was overlooked for selection. The selectors decided not to include him due to his long absence from international cricket since 2017.

The inclusion of the star pacemaker. jasprit bumrah remains dependent on his recovery from a back injury suffered during the Sydney Test against Australia. Reports indicate that Bumrah is expected to take part in the Champions Trophy if he is deemed fit.
