Barcelona target Nico Williams closer to Premier League move with 4 teams interested

As Barcelona continues to pursue a top-class left winger next summer, Nico Williams, their top target from last year, is likely to be an option once again. However, the competition for his signature is intensifying.

Barcelona has made it clear through the media that they will only move for Williams if he prioritizes them and refrains from extending his contract with Athletic Club, which would raise his €58m release clause. The 22-year-old opted to stay at San Mamés this summer, but with just a year left on his contract next season, he will face an important decision about his future.

The Athletic reports that Williams is increasingly drawn to the idea of moving abroad. Barcelona understands the conditions of any potential deal, but it will ultimately be up to Williams to initiate the process. From the Premier League, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Chelsea are all monitoring him, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain also keeping tabs on his progress. PSG even reached out to his representatives last summer.

Another factor to consider is the form of Raphinha. The Brazilian has arguably been the best player in Spain this season and has been playing on the left side, where Williams would likely be deployed. While other top clubs in Europe can offer a more lucrative financial package, Williams has previously stated a preference for remaining in Spain.
