Barcelona have been expanding and focusing their scouting efforts across Africa in recent years, as demonstrated by the signings of Ibrahim Diarra and David Oduro from Senegal and Ghana, respectively. The latest talent to capture their attention is South African winger Relebohile Mofokeng.
According to Soccer Laduma, as reported by Sport, Barcelona scouts have traveled to South Africa to observe Mofokeng, the 20-year-old winger from Orlando Pirates. The Blaugrana have reportedly shown interest in him, with other clubs like Levante and Rangers also monitoring his progress. Mofokeng has also spent time on trial with Wolves in England.
Mofokeng made his senior debut for South Africa’s national team, Bafana Bafana, against South Sudan this summer, and has impressed for the Pirates this season. With 4 goals and 7 assists in 17 appearances, he has made significant strides since breaking into the first team last season. A right-footed winger, Mofokeng typically plays on the left, using his quick feet and pace to make an impact.
