Ronald Araujo’s future continues to look further and further away from the Catalan capital, after a week of rumors about an exit from Juventus. The Uruguayan defender has been in talks with Barcelona for a new deal, with his current contract running until 2026, but has not made much progress.
That means Barcelona will be looking to sell this summer or even this January, with Juventus betting on the latter. La Vecchia Signora reportedly have the green light from Araujo to make a move, and La Repubblica (via Sport) is now reporting that Juventus have reached an agreement with Barcelona to make the move happen, on a loan with the obligation to buy in the summer. .

This has been questioned by the local press in Barcelona, Gerard Romero of Jijantes confirmed talks with Juventus, but denied any agreement. Other clubs have also reportedly inquired about his availability. Sport goes on to state that Manchester United are one of the teams that have inquired, but also that Araujo’s team denies that an agreement has been reached.
🚨 Barça tells us that today, they do NOT have the agreement closed with Juventus for Araujo as the report says. @republic
There are communications with them and other clubs have asked about the Uruguayan, but nothing has been decided.#market @JijantesFC

At one point it seemed that Eric García could be about to leave in January, but the Blaugrana will only consider the departure of one of them, Araujo or Andreas Christensen this season, although all three are possible departures in the summer. In the case of Araujo, the possible arrival of Jonathan Tah is one of the reasons why Barcelona is willing to do business.
Recent reports have also suggested that Arsenal could make a move for Araujo, with the Premier League believed to be his preferred destination if he wants to leave Barcelona. The fact that they have made no progress on a new contract but have set the summer as a sale date means that striking a deal now potentially makes sense for Barcelona, if they don’t feel they can get a new one once Araujo has finished.
