Barcelona is convinced that it will be able to resolve its registration problems with Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor in the next 24 hours, since LaLiga released both players on its website this Wednesday.
President Joan Laporta, vice president Rafa Yuste, treasurer Ferran Olive and director Joan Soler met this Thursday at the club’s offices in a meeting that lasted almost four hours, according to Marca, in which they tried to resolve the matter. They came away from that meeting with optimism, with the same source saying that they believe Olmo and Victor will be registered ahead of Hansi Flick’s pre-match press conference on Friday at 1:00 p.m. CEST.
This information is corroborated by Sport, which states that Barcelona is “almost certain” that La Liga will accept the sale of VIP boxes at the Camp Nou, and thus increase its salary limit enough to register Olmo and Víctor again. They consider that the entire agreement is “accredited” and that the 100 million euros will be added to their accounts, in an agreement that will extend over the next 20 years with two as yet unidentified companies from Qatar and Dubai.

The obvious issue is that they have already passed the deadline to register Olmo and Víctor. Once they have been discharged, they will not be able to register again and, as things stand, they will not be able to play the remainder of the season, whether with Barcelona or not. However, RAC1 explains that Barcelona will refer to a clause in the ruling that describes an exception for ‘force majeure’, which in legal terms describes ‘unforeseeable circumstances that prevent someone from fulfilling a contract’.
It is not entirely clear what they are referring to in that sense, but Barcelona has been informing local media that La Liga’s request for additional documentation is behind the delay in Olmo and Víctor’s registrations.
