Real Madrid return to La Liga action this weekend when the defending champions host Las Palmas on Sunday.
Los Blancos were forced to go to extra time in midweek, when they finally recorded a 5-2 victory over Celta Vigo in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, to add extra minutes to the tank.
A long night against the Galicians in Madrid comes after two Super Cup games in Saudi Arabia and trips to and from the Middle East.
A busy schedule shows no immediate signs of relief for Carlo Ancelotti’s side with four games on the calendar before the end of January.
La Liga’s infamous history of late announcements about kick-off times has been criticized again by Ancelotti this season and that sentiment was shared by right-back Lucas Vázquez.
“We have talked about it several times. I think we have played 80 or 90% of the games at 9:00 p.m., against Celta it was 9:30 a.m., plus extra time, now we play on Sunday at 4:15 p.m.,” Relevo reports.
“There is little time left to recover but that is what we have to do. We have to be attentive to this, for the good of football and the players, we have to rest, it is very important.”
Real Madrid’s final three matches of the month will kick off at 21:00 CET, including UEFA Champions League clashes against RB Salzburg and Stade Brest, as they target the round of 16 in February.
