With four and a half hours left on the clock, two WRT BMWs were still in the fight for victory, but Valentino Rossi had just mortgaged his own chances for the overall victory. The Italian cut off Les Combes and when he re-entered the track, he crashed into the Kessel Racing Ferrari #8 of Nicole Rosi.
