Three reasons why Barcelona wants to sign Marcus Rashford

Barcelona have increased their interest in Marcus Rashford in recent days, with a loan deal being discussed for the Manchester United star. While it may be difficult due to his well-documented financial problems, there is a determination to beat the rest of the competition for the England international to finish in Catalonia later this month.

According to Sport, there are several reasons why Barcelona wants to sign Rashford, the main one being that Hansi Flick sees in him a differential option compared to the rest of their attacking options. His one-on-one ability is something the Catalans lack on the left wing, while his speed is also considered a valuable asset.

Furthermore, Barcelona see Rashford as an excellent option to improve their attacking depth, especially considering that Ansu Fati is expected to go out on loan. Flick’s team will be very busy during the second half of the season, so extra quality is needed in the rotation.

Finally, Flick appreciates that Rashford is versatile, especially since he can play as a forward in case Robert Lewandowski is unavailable or rested. It’s not a position the 27-year-old has played much in recent years, but he is still more than capable of filling in for Barcelona when needed.
