The Real Madrid star, open to moving to Qatar: “It is a probable destination”

Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal has confirmed that he would like to move to Qatari football when he leaves Los Blancos. The 32-year-old has admitted that he does not have much playing time left and does not seem to be thinking about retiring at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Carvajal will turn 33 in two weeks, and with Real Madrid pursuing Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, he could consider a move at some point. He is currently recovering from a torn cruciate ligament in his knee, which will keep him out for a year.

“I am 32 years old, I am no longer a child. What do I have left? Four or five years of football? “It’s not much, time goes by quickly,” he told Esquire. He was also not averse to moving to the Middle East.

“It wouldn’t seem crazy to me. “I have already said that if one day I leave Real Madrid I will not play in Europe, I will not compete against Madrid in the Champions League or in Spain.”

His former teammate Joselu Mato currently plays in Qatar for Al-Gharafa, having arrived from Real Madrid this summer. Carvajal and Joselu are married to twin sisters Daphne and Melanie and are therefore now brothers-in-law.

“It would be a probable destination. Joselu tells me: ‘I’ll wait for you here, I’ll save you the right-back spot.’ It is a competition in which all the stadiums are close, there is a very high quality of life. And he has earned it, having that important financial reward, which is a spectacular culmination of his career. “I am very happy for him, for my sister-in-law and for my nephews,” he explained.

It would be a surprise if Carvajal did not try to return to the Spanish team for the 2026 World Cup, with Pedro Porro and Oscar Mingueza currently being his main competitors for the job. Carvajal should return to action around seven months before the World Cup takes place, but if Alexander-Arnold arrives he may find it harder to get minutes as he tries to regain his sharpness.
