The prospect that Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor could leave Barcelona for free, just four months after they joined for a combined €55.7 million in fees, seems dangerously real for president Joan Laporta. The Blaugrana say they have already submitted all the relevant documents to register the two players and introduce the 1:1 spending ratio into their salary cap, but it all came too late.
Barcelona have been operating on the basis that they could re-register Olmo and Víctor in La Liga, having sold €100m worth of commercial rights to their VIP boxes at the Camp Nou over the next 20 years. Their argument is that La Liga asked for more sales guarantees before registering Olmo and Víctor, which they offered on Friday, three days after the deadline. The reason is that banks were closed for holidays and therefore could not do so previously.
Barça is very clear that the law is on its side and that it has complied with the procedures to register Olmo and Pau Víctor. @sport

However, Marca explains that the rules are clear and, despite Barcelona’s warnings, they did not provide enough information in time to register them. Although the documents are already in force, La Liga has announced that it will not accept your registration. The RFEF also has no intention of deviating from La Liga’s line in this regard. The only way to register Olmo and Víctor will be through a judge’s ruling.
The Blaugrana must now look for contingency plans, with several scenarios on the table. Olmo’s agent has explained that he has no plans to leave the club, and the same goes for Víctor. However, neither player can go out on loan and Barcelona appear to be considering offering them a mutual termination of their contract.
