The Bundesliga midfielder responds to Barcelona’s interest: “Sometimes they ask me about it in the locker room”

Barcelona does not seem to be going to buy a midfielder in the near future, both due to its financial situation and the escape of Marc Casado and the return of Marc Bernal at the beginning of next season. One of the players Hansi Flick supposedly liked was Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller.

Dubbed the long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, and coming to prominence last season as Stuttgart finished second in the Bundesliga, Stiller has become a German international in the past year. Flick, who of course follows German football closely, was impressed. However, Stiller has explained that he is not worried about speculation linking him to the Blaugrana.

“Of course there is some speculation about possible changes. Sometimes they ask me about it, even inside our locker room. The topic does not concern me. It’s a bad time to worry about that. “I am in Stuttgart and that is my only goal.”

“In the world of football everything moves very quickly and you have to be very careful with what you say. But it is clear that I imagine myself staying in Stuttgart. I feel the gratitude of the fans and everyone at the club,” he explained to BILD, quoted by Sport.

In any case, Stiller would probably earn a large transfer fee with two and a half years left on his contract and at only 23 years old. Barcelona could look for a midfielder next summer if they can find the funds, and Frenkie de Jong is being sold for a fee, but that remains hypothetical terrorist territory as things stand.
