Turkey and Portugal face each other this Saturday, in Dortmund, with the round of 16 of Euro 2024 in the background. The A BOLA report went to Barsinghausen, the Turks’ headquarters, to meet Orkun Kokçu, Benfica midfielder, who said he had had some altercations with his teammates and, this afternoon, opponents João Neves and António Silva.
The Ball at Euro Kokçu.
To be honest, no [laughs]. We were very focused on the championship, on Benfica , we were focused on the club and so there wasn’t much time for that. But sometimes João [Neves] and I would make jokes. I told him not to come to my side… because there will be war [laughs].
Depending on how the groups finish, there is a chance that Turkey will face the Netherlands, where he was born and lived until leaving for Benfica … How do you feel about that possibility?
I know a lot of Dutch players, there are some I still talk to, but… it wouldn’t be that special. For me, facing the Netherlands or France is the same thing. I defend the Turkish team and it is for them that I fight to get as far as possible in Euro 2024
