Real Madrid is waiting to see what happens with Bayern Munich left back, Alphonso Davies. The Canadian seemed certain months ago that he would join Los Blancos, but Bayern have not given up on him yet.
According to Diario AS, Real Madrid feels they have done their part. They will not change their offer as long as Davies knows his salary and contract length. They are waiting until January 1st for him to sign that contract, and they are referring to Davies’ word that he will sign with them: “betrayals are beyond our control,” the report reads.
Real Madrid continues to preach calm in this regard, but there are nerves due to the lack of a definitive answer. Davies initially demanded €20 million in annual salary, but has reduced those demands to €15 million per season, plus a signing bonus of €15 million. Bayern have been close to offering 14 million euros per season, but are preparing a final ‘effort’ to try to finalize the agreement.
The player himself is happy in Munich and feels loved by the fans, but he is aware of the magnitude of the opportunity and joins Real Madrid at the age of 24 as the starting left back. AS goes on to say that “if Davies doesn’t sign it’s because of money.”
Davies has also been linked with Manchester United, who could certainly compete financially. Agent Nedal Househ will also listen to an offer from the Red Devils while in England in January. It appears that Los Blancos will be banking on the appeal of their offer outweighing any additional financial gains they may reap elsewhere.
