Real Madrid eyes the 19-year-old Premier League centre-back

Real Madrid does not prioritize the arrival of a center back for 2025, but it is putting together a wish list for the position. Los Blancos have set their sights on a player who many believe will be a future Spanish international.

Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has impressed since arriving in the Premier League under Andoni Iraola from Juventus, and Diario AS say Real Madrid are paying attention. Their information is that of all the candidates on their short list, Huijsen is the current preferred option.

Like Bayern Munich and Barcelona, Real Madrid were interested in the Spanish-Dutch defender when he left Malaga to join Juventus. After a season on loan at Roma, Huijsen signed for Bournemouth for €15m last summer and has since become a regular for Spain’s under-21 team.

Their biggest doubts about the deal are whether Huijsen could end up starting for them. Likewise, they are unsure of their willingness to initially take on a reduced role. The Whites are debating whether to make a move for him now, knowing that it could be much more difficult in the future, with Arsenal and Manchester United also eyeing him.

Real Madrid also does not want to repeat the situation of Leny Yoro, who left his offer to sign for Manchester United intact, which beat the whites. Other names they like are Aymeric Laporte and William Saliba, but the cost of the deals will rule out those moves. Chief scout Juni Calafat is also a fan of Palmeiras teenager Vitor Reis for the job.

Yoro’s move was proof that there is an understanding in the Spanish capital that Real Madrid needs to invest in its defense. With Jesús Vallejo on his way out, even if Eder Militao was fit, Antonio Rudiger is in his thirties and David Alaba is now 33. It is unclear if Raúl Asencio has a long-term future at the club.
