Throughout his career, jasprit bumrah has won the hearts of the cricket world with his emphatic pace bowling. The Indian pace sensation was at the peak of his prowess during India’s five-match Test series against Australia. Bumrah had a remarkable series with the ball by taking 32 wickets despite Australia’s defeat. India 3-1 in the series. With his bowling display, Bumrah managed to secure the Player of the series prize for himself despite having played only a few overs in the last Test match in Sydney.
Bumrah’s latest achievement at the ICC
Since the world saw his bowling prowess during the Border-Gavaskar Trophythe record books need revision from time to time and Bumrah’s name added to them. The 31-year-old’s player rating reached a sky-high level and the Indian pacer even managed to clinch the top spot in the ICC player rankings for bowlers in Test cricket with a rating of 908, the highest in his career.
Furthermore, Bumrah recently received the award ICC Player of the Month for December 2024 for his exceptional bowling display. Bumrah managed to beat tough competition from Pat Cummins and Dane Paterson and bagged the coveted title. The Indian pacer was awarded the Player of the Month award for his remarkable bowling display. 22 wickets throughout the month with an average of 14.22.
Mumbai Indians’ reaction to Bumrah’s achievement
Reactions and celebratory posts came from all corners of the cricket world after ICC awarded Bumrah Player of the Month for December 2024. However, his IPL franchise Bombay Indians shared a post on social media celebrating Bumrah’s achievement which instantly became the topic of conversation among fans and cricket analysts alike. The viral social media post mentioned Bumrah as the supreme superlative of excellence and added Bumrah’s name instead of the usual “Best” that people use as a superlative of good and best.

Clouds of uncertainty hang over Bumrah’s physical condition
Bumrah made a relentless run with the bowl to save India’s hopes and achieve a positive result in the Melbourne and Sydney Tests of the BGT 2024-25. While his efforts did not yield much results for the team, the additional workload on the pacer led to a back injury. Bumrah bowled over 150 overs throughout the series and hence a spasm in his lower back was only obvious to the pacer.
However, now the 31-year-old’s injury situation appears to have worsened with reports suggesting swelling in his back. With a T20I and ODI series at home against England Just around the corner, the Indian team is desperately waiting for positive news regarding Bumrah’s injury. The issue is more worrying considering the fact that the Indian team has to travel to the United Arab Emirates soon to play their World Cup matches. Champions Trophy 2025 after the England series.
