Mohamed Salah deal closes as Saudi Arabia change beckons

In theory, one of the best players in the world is a free agent in less than six months, but Mohamed Salah already has a decided destiny. After a number of comments suggesting his time at Anfield is coming to an end, it looks like that will be the case.

Liverpool have been doing everything they can to renew his contract, along with those of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, but Relevo reports that any ongoing efforts are likely to be in vain. Inside Miguel Rico has written that rumors that Real Madrid or Barcelona could sign Salah for free this summer should not be paid attention to, as he has already agreed to become Saudi Arabia’s star signing next summer.

His information is that it is not necessarily decided which team he will play for, as the Saudi Ministry of Sports will decide which of the four big clubs he will join between Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr. Any rumors about a contract renewal with Liverpool have been met with calm in Saudi Arabia, as they believe it is a done deal.

Any rumor linking Salah to Barcelona or Real Madrid always seemed unlikely, as Barcelona have Lamine Yamal in their favorite position and Real Madrid have four star forwards already competing for places in their team. The Egyptian has defined an era at Liverpool, but it appears his eight-year spell is in its death throes.
