Lille striker Jonathan David confirms that the future is ’50-50′

Lille striker Jonathan David has become in demand this winter as his contract expires at the end of the season. The Canadian striker can sign a contract with any club he wants on Wednesday and has several top teams that would be happy to sign him.

Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid were interested in David at the beginning of the year, but seem to have cooled their interest for the moment. In an interview with La Voix du Nord, published by Sport, David explained that his future remains shrouded in uncertainty. Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich are cited as favorites for his signing at this point.

“As the president has said on numerous occasions, there are negotiations. We are talking, but no decision has been made. We keep talking and the door never closes. It’s 50-50.”

The latest from the Catalan capital was that Barcelona were not convinced that their best attributes would serve them well against the stacked defenses they often face. Being a free agent, he is also likely to receive a high salary. So far this season David has 17 goals and 5 assists in just 26 appearances, including a penalty goal against Real Madrid.
